U3A Chester-le-Street

Are you retired or semi-retired?
Do you enjoy learning?
Would you like to share your knowledge with others?
Would you like to form new friendships with like-minded others?
If your answer to any or all of these questions is 'yes'then probably the U3A is for you.

Chester-le-Street U3A

Chester-le-Street U3A is a small, friendly group of about 150 members. We hold regular general meetings at 10 a.m. on the first Wednesday of every month in the function room of the Red Lion on the Front Street of Chester-le-Street, usually with a guest speaker. Throughout each month, there are regular activities and visits co-ordinated by members themselves.

Any member can start a new interest group, so it's a great place to share your own interests, knowledge, and experience with others. If you like what you see, why not come and meet us at one of our monthly General Meetings, or get in touch with us by phone, letter, or e-mail. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Who Can Join?

Anyone who is no longer in full time employment. We have no other pre-requisites apart from the love of learning. U3As neither require nor award any qualifications. There is also the chance to make new friends and explore new areas of interest.

How to Join

Membership is an annual fee of £10, and attendance at monthly meetings is £1 for members and £2 for visitors. Attendance fee for group activities vary depending upon location and cost of room hire.
